Weekend Fun: Feb. 25-26

Ready to get out and about this weekend? Here are some not-too-far-away activities for those who want to spend some time out of town.

SATURDAY

Avenue Q: The Actors' Repertory Theatre of Simi presents Avenue Q, where puppets perform alongside humans in this coming-of-age story that addresses life after college. Shows are at 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center, 3050 Los Angeles Ave., Simi Valley. Tickets are $22 for adults and $18 for seniors and students.

Beauty and the Beast, Jr.: The Young Artists Ensemble and the Conejo Recreation and Park District's Therapeutic Recreation Unit present Disney's Beauty and the Beast, Jr. at 7:30 p.m. at the Hillcrest Center for the Arts, 403 W. Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks. Tickets are $10, but we suggest getting them online quickly if you're interested because all the other performances have sold out.

Bridal Fair: Bridal Bliss is a special event where brides-to-be can learn tops from experts, win prizes, see a bridal fashion show and more. The free event runs from noon to 4 p.m, at the Calabasas Commons, 4799 Commons Way, Calabasas.

Young Frankenstein: Theater League presents Mel Brooks' musical Young Frankenstein, with songs like "The Transylvania Mania," "He Vas My Boyfriend," and "Puttin' on the Ritz." Shows are at 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 and 7 p.m. Sunday at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, 2100 Thousand Oaks Blvd. Tickets are $49-$64. Note the show is recommended for mature audiences.

SUNDAY

Cupcake Camp Fundraiser: The innaugural Conejo Valley Cupcake Camp, sponsored by Cupcakes for Cancer which raises money for a variety of cancer-related organizations, takes place from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Westlake Village Inn,31943 Agoura Road, Westlake Village. The $15 cost ($10 for those 17 and younger) includes four cupcake tastings, milk and coffee.
