Driver With Dark Ponytail Sought For Hit-And-Run Of Bicyclist On E. Fremont Avenue

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA – Photos were released Wednesday of a vehicle seen fleeing a hit-and-run crash in Sunnyvale Monday morning that left a bicyclist with life-threatening injuries, according to the city's Department of Public Safety.
A 67-year-old woman was riding her bicycle on East Fremont Avenue east of Sunnyvale-Saratoga Road around 10:30 a.m. when she was struck by a car that left the scene, Department of Public Safety Capt. Shawn Ahearn said.
The driver, described as a person -- possible male or female -- with dark hair styled in a ponytail, was heading east on East Fremont Avenue past Fremont High School before the collision, he said.

Officers found the bicyclist who was transported to a hospital for major injuries that were considered life-threatening and remained in critical condition as of this morning, Ahearn said.
Investigators were able to obtain surveillance photos of the vehicle leaving the scene, he said.

The Acura turned left on eastbound East Fremont Avenue, then went southbound South Wolfe Road toward Cupertino, public safety officials said.
The suspect vehicle is described as a white 2009 to 2014 Acura TLX or ILX with damage to the front windshield. The car may also have damage to its front bumper and passenger side mirror, according to Ahearn.
