''Edcamp Silicon Valley' to Offer Innovative Experience for Educators

The "unconference" is Saturday in Palo Alto.

On Saturday, Edcamp Silicon Valley (EdcampSV) will bring together hundreds of teachers for a day of free, participant-driven learning and discussions about teaching, technology, and other topics in education, according to the Palo Alto Unified School District.

The event will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Palo Alto High Media Arts Center, 50 Embarcadero Road.

The edcamp model is an “unconference” where the participants start the day by collectively determining the content of sessions, said the district spokesperson.

Organizers hope to share some of the edcamp sessions via live webcasts as well. Several local teachers’ associations and the California Teachers Association (CTA) have provided financial and logistical support.

Dan Russell, from Google, will give the opening keynote while Krishna Vedati, CEO of Tynker will deliver the closing keynote.

Interested teachers can partner with the Edcamp foundation which provides advice and support for organizers of edcamps.
