Elderly Man Seriously Injured When Hit By Car on El Camino Real

The accident closed the intersection near Dale Avenue in Mountain View this afternoon.

An elderly man suffered major injuries when a car struck him in Mountain View this afternoon, according to police.

The collision was reported at 12:08 p.m. at El Camino Real and Dale Avenue.

The pedestrian, an 85-year-old Mountain View man, was struck by a gray sedan and was taken to a hospital with injuries that are considered major but not life-threatening, police spokeswoman Officer Shino Tanaka said.

The sedan’s driver, a 40-year-old Fremont man, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the collision, Tanaka said.

The intersection had reopened to traffic as of shortly before 1 p.m., according to police.
