Mountain View Police Search For Suspect In Purse Theft, Assault

Police are seeking a man who allegedly walked into a Mountain View business last week, stole an employee's purse, then assaulted the victim.

MOUNTAIN VIEW - Police are seeking a man who allegedly walked into a Mountain View business last Monday afternoon, stole an employee's purse and then assaulted the employee when she went to confront him, police said Friday.

At 4:16 p.m., officers responded to a report of a robbery at a business near El Camino Real and Lane Avenue, according to police.

Upon arrival, the victim told officers that a man walked into the business through a backdoor and then took her purse as she was working.

The victim ran after the suspect and attempted to retrieve her purse. The suspect however pushed the victim, causing her to fall onto the ground, police said.

Police described the suspect as a black man, between 30 and 40 years old, about 6 feet tall, bald with a thin frame and a beard.

He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and gray pants.
