Local Writes: Shoreline Amphitheatre Attractive Nuisance for Public Safety

A review of the city’s permitting process may be in order. While censoring event content is not appropriate, each type of event does have documented propensities for serious issues. Some events have performances that actually encourage violence as a theme.

As an example: Will the City permit process allow a ‘Rave Hip Hop’ event at Shoreline while recent history shows it will produce a high level of arrests?

Do our Public Safety officers have input to the permit process?

Is the City of Mountain View’s permit process driven by Public Safety concerns or other factors?
