Two Palo Alto Suspects Arrested for Alleged Stereo Equipment Theft From Mountain View Walmart

From the Mountain View Police Department:

On Tuesday, Oct. 21 at around 2 p.m., Walmart Loss Prevention called to report a male suspect who concealed stereo equipment in a bag then left the store without paying.

When the suspect was confronted by a Loss Prevention Agent in the parking lot, he threatened to spray the agent with pepper spray. The Loss Prevention Agent backed off and the suspect drove away in a vehicle.

Walmart’s Loss Prevention Agent was able to provide a description of the suspect’s vehicle along with a license plate number and a description of the suspect.

Officers quickly located the suspect vehicle on San Antonio Road and made a traffic stop.

The suspect exited the vehicle and initially complied with the officer’s requests, but then decided to run from them jumping over a fence in the 2500 block of Middlefield Road.

Through persistent investigation by MVPD officers and detectives, they were able to quickly track the suspect down to a residence in Palo Alto.

With assistance from the Palo Alto Police Department, officers learned the suspect was taken to the home of a friend located in their city.

The robbery suspect, 20 year-old Palo Alto resident Logan Korecky, was arrested for robbery, burglary and resisting, obstructing or delaying arrest.

He was booked into San Jose Main Jail without incident. It should be noted the injuries that appear on Korecky’s face in the photograph are pre-existing and were not sustained or related to this incident.

The other suspect, 26 year-old Palo Alto resident Nathan Parkin, was arrested and booked for accessory to a felony and resisting, obstructing or delaying arrest.

“This case is a great example of the tenacity and dedication of our police officers as well as the solid relationship with our neighboring cities,” said Det. Sgt. Sean Thompson who supervises MVPD’s Crimes Against Persons Unit. “Mountain View and Palo Alto officers came together and were able to quickly identify, locate and ultimately arrest the suspects.”
