Big Rig Overturns At I-215, I-15 Junction, Spills Slurry: CHP
The California Highway Patrol reports that asphalt slurry spilled during the crash.
MURRIETA, CA — A big rig crashed and overturned in the Murrieta area Thursday, prompting a traffic backup in the region, the CHP reports. The truck overturned near the junction of Interstates 15 and 215 just after noon, where the semi apparently collided with a pickup truck, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash was first reported at 12:07 p.m. on the northbound 15 at the 215 split, according to CHP Officer Mike Lassig. Though multiple lanes of the freeway were initially blocked by the crash, the CHP tells Patch that only the number four, or slow, lane headed north was closed as of 12:45 p.m.
However, there was a mess in the area from the crash, as the big rig was hauling asphalt slurry, some of which spilled.

"It's non-hazardous, however it's going to messy," Officer Mike Lassig said.
Caltrans was sent to the scene to assess the cleanup situation. All lanes were reopened by 2:45 p.m.
