DMV Grants 30-Day Grace Period For Some Vehicle Registration

Vehicle owners with registrations due on July 1 or later will get a 30-day grace period, the DMV says.

Some Murrieta residents who failed to get registration renewal letters from the DMV will get an extra 30 days to pay.

The state legislature was unable to decide how much to charge for vehicle registration in this fiscal year, so the DMV was unable to send out renewal letters.

Anybody with a registration date on or after July 1 will get their notices on or near their vehicle registration's expiration date, according to the DMV.

Usually, vehicle owners get their renewal letters 60 days before the expiration date.

No money will be collected until the registration notices are sent, the DMV stated in an announcement. No penalties for late payments will be imposed until 30 days after the expiration date.
