Fire, Smoke Envelop Murrieta Home; Neighbors Help Residents Out

The weekend fire sent a large smoke plume into the region, and flames were visible from the street.

MURRIETA, CA — Murrieta fire officials are investigating the cause of a house fire that broke out over the weekend, sending a large smoke plume into the region and two people to the hospital for possible smoke inhalation. The fire broke out around 8 a.m. Sunday in the 33000 block of Nightingale Avenue, near Whitewood and Keller roads, according to Murrieta Fire & Rescue.

When fire crews got to the scene, they encountered a two-story home that was full of smoke. Crews soon used saws to cut open the garage door and extinguish flames, images from the scene show.

Though the home was filled with smoke, flames were contained to the garage, according to reports from the scene.

Witnesses told those on scene that neighbors helped some residents out of the home using a ladder to the second story, according to on-scene reports. Two of those people were taken to the hospital to be checked out.
