Gas Prices Dropping Across US, So Why Not Riverside County?

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — Gasoline prices in Riverside County and across the state have dipped a bit, but not as much as most other places in the nation.
The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County dropped a half-cent Friday to $3.479, one day after rising three-tenths of a cent.
The average price has dropped eight of the past 11 days, decreasing 1.7 cents, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is unchanged from one week ago, 1.8 cents less than one month ago and 25.6 cents more than one year ago.
The average price has dropped 2.9 cents since the start of the year.
"Most of the rest of the U.S. is now experiencing weekly price drops of four to five cents during the lowest demand time of the year, and all indications are that demand is low in California too," said Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California's corporate communications manager.
"However, because the state switches to using summer-blend gasoline earlier than any other state, if we see any price drops in the coming days, we expect them to be small."
