Murder Charges Filed Against Hemet Man for Deaths of Father, Son

The Hemet man could face the death sentence if convicted as charged.

A Hemet man accused of fatally stabbing his stepfather and half brother was charged Tuesday with two counts of first-degree murder.

Quilik Lamont Walton, 23, was arrested Thursday for the deaths of 44- year-old Deon Boyd and 12-year-old Deon Boyd Jr.

Along with the murder charges, Walton faces a special circumstance allegation of taking multiple lives in the same crime -- an allegation for which prosecutors could seek the death sentence.

Walton was slated to make his initial court appearance Tuesday afternoon at the Southwest Justice Center in Murrieta. He’s being held without bail at the neighboring Southwest Detention Center.

Hemet police allege the defendant killed the victims Wednesday night, for reasons not yet explained. Walton lived at the two-story home in the 400 block of Winthrop Drive. Two other occupants of the residence -- Boyd’s wife and her sister -- discovered the bodies around 11:30 p.m. and called 911.

Hemet police Lt. Dean Evans said Walton was immediately identified as a suspect, and officers began searching for him.

On Thursday morning, a patrolman spotted the defendant driving in the area of Simpson Avenue and Warren Road. A traffic stop was initiated a few blocks away, and Walton was taken into custody without incident.

He has no prior convictions, according to court records.
