Murrieta Fire And Rescue Accreditation Renewed For Five Years
Murrieta Fire Chief Bernie Molloy accepted the Accreditation Agency Award from the Commission on Fire Accreditation International in August.

MURRIETA, CA — Murrieta Fire and Rescue announced its renewed accreditation as of the end of August. The Commission on Fire Accreditation International presented the award to Murrieta Fire and Rescue Chief Bernie Molloy, who shared his thoughts on upholding the highest standards for a firefighting service.
"At Murrieta Fire and Rescue, we continually strive for excellence," he said. "Aligning ourselves with the standards that define the world's top fire departments is a core principle."
According to Molloy, the accreditation process is centered around continuous improvement across services and is ingrained in the department's organizational culture.
The city of Murrieta was equally proud of the department, according to City Manager Kim Summers.
"The city is an organization that holds ourselves to the highest possible standards, so measuring ourselves against the standards that dictate the best fire departments in the world is something we have taken to heart," she said.
The department was fully accredited in 2018, the first to do so in Riverside County. Riverside Fire Department followed in 2019. For the 2023 reaccreditation, the department conducted an agency-wide self-assessment that was then peer-reviewed nationwide. That was followed by a visit to the site in April to validate the study.
Now, the department has five more years to continue on its journey toward excellence. Molloy says they plan to follow their commitment to providing exceptional fire and rescue services to the community, according to a recent news release.
"We are thrilled to receive this recognition once again, solidifying our position as a leading fire agency," Molloy said.
