Kubel earned a bachelor's degree from California Baptist University. He and his wife, Angie and four daughters live in Murrieta.
Also promoted to the rank of captain were Lyndon “Ray” Wood of Hemet, Michael Judge, also of Hemet, and Dean Wright, of Hesperia.
The newly-promoted captains fill acancies due to retirements over the past month, Heim said.
Riverside County Sheriff Stan Sniff commented on the promotions:
“All four of these captains reflect a great deal of experience in a variety of areas that are the responsibilities of the Sheriff’s Department, and have had exemplary careers in law enforcement in each of their assignments," Sniff said.
"When combined with their education and training, they are all poised to help contribute to making our communities safer and leading the young men and women who serve on our front lines day in and day out."
