Murrieta Valley USD Redistricting Plans Up For Review In December
The resulting decision could change the middle school and high school your child is slated to attend.

MURRIETA, CA— Three conceptual plans for redistricting the Murrieta Valley Unified School District schools, from elementary through high school, are up for discussion in Murrieta.
The Murrieta Valley USD Redistricting Advisory Committee invited the community to view the conceptual elementary, middle, and high school attendance boundary maps that propose changes to the current school zones. Residents can weigh in on all three of the proposed changes.
The resulting decision could change the middle school and/or high school your child is slated to attend.

The group hopes to have a final report for the Murrieta Valley Unified School District Board for first reading and discussion by January 23, 2025.
"School boundary changes are needed to equitably align school population and ease school overcrowding, particularly on the west side of Murrieta," a spokesperson for the MVUSD said. "Taking a comprehensive look at school boundaries will help alleviate overcrowding while also ensuring the district is prepared to accommodate the residential growth in the community. This process is a continuation of the facility planning efforts that began in August of 2023

"Since the project’s inception, the district has solicited the community’s input related to facility needs and school boundaries through three surveys. Results from the most recent survey conducted in September and October provided the building blocks for the three conceptual maps that will be presented."
In December, residents have two opportunities to inspect and comment on the three conceptual maps:
- Tuesday, December 10, 2024, from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. at Vista Murrieta High School, MPR
- Wednesday, December 11, 2024, from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. at Thompson Middle School, MPR
These viewing workshops are designed to be interactive, they said.
QR codes will be provided for participants to provide feedback and view their boundary assignments, and district demographers will be available to answer questions one-on-one. Project information may be found on the project website.
According to the project leadership, once a recommendation is finalized, it will be presented to the Board of Education for discussion and action.
