Murrieta's New Guava Street Bridge Grand Opening Set

The new bridge is at Murrieta Creek.

From the City of Murrieta: The City of Murrieta is pleased to announce the opening of the Guava Street Bridge at Murrieta Creek. The new bridge will accommodate the future widening of Murrieta Creek and allow for improved access to the West-side of Murrieta from Jefferson Avenue. The City will commemorate the grand opening of the Guava Street Bridge with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on May 17, 2018, that will feature local dignitaries and residents. The bridge construction includes the installation of a 2-lane, 493 foot long bridge that is a 5-span, box girder, pre-stressed concrete structure.

"The new bridge provides not only a safe and effective corridor for vehicular travel with wider lanes and better traffic flow, but also a reliable transportation connection to the west-end of Murrieta" said Mayor Jonathan Ingram. According to City Manager Kim Summers, "The successful completion of this bridge is an excellent demonstration of the City Council's commitment to quality transportation infrastructure development throughout our City."

Design and construction costs of the Guava Street Bridge totaled $7.2 million. The new bridge began construction in June 2017, and lasted 11 months. The project required the coordination of multiple agencies, including the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Riverside County Flood Control, Water Conservation District, and Caltrans. The Guava Street Bridge was designed by TY Lin International Group and constructed by Ortiz Enterprises, Inc., in coordination with Rick Engineering Company and Falcon Engineering Services, Inc.
