Feather Alert Issued For Missing 14-Year-Old Girl From Murrieta: CHP (patch.com) — Murrieta police and the California Highway Patrol are asking for the public's help to find 14-year-old Brooklyn Salvesen, a Native American girl last seen near Nighthawk Way and Washington Avenue. A Feather Alert has been issued, and anyone who spots her or has information is urged to call 911 immediately.
   

2. Haircut-A-Thon Fundraiser Promotes Child Safety and Supports Children of Incarcerated Parents (myvalleynews.com subscription) — Murrieta families can support children of incarcerated parents at an October 4 Haircut-A-Thon at LuvLiez Salon on California Oaks Road, offering discounted haircuts, kids' ID kits, and safety resources. The event also collects new clothing and toys for local youth, ahead of the 26th Annual Angel Tree Christmas Party at Gateway Church of the Nazarene on Jefferson Avenue in December.

Wolfpack win girls tennis opener (myvalleynews.com) — Great Oak High School's girls tennis team in Murrieta opened its season with a strong 15-3 home win over Linfield Christian, despite heat rules limiting August practices and matches. Coach Ray Fisher is guiding a largely new varsity squad, with only three returners from last year's 20-player roster and seven seniors leading the 16-player team.
   

4. RivCo Man Accused Of Killing Acquaintance, Burying Him Near Freeway Arraigned (patch.com) — A homicide case tied to a body found near Interstate 10 in Cabazon is now moving through the Southwest Justice Center in Murrieta, where the 48-year-old defendant pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder. He remains jailed on $1 million bail as investigators continue to piece together when and where the victim was killed and why.
   

5. SAC Health lays off 49 workers to close budget gap of $10M (dailybulletin.com) — SAC Health, which operates clinics including one serving Murrieta residents, has laid off 49 nonclinical workers and closed two San Bernardino sites to close a $10 million budget gap. Leaders say they're cutting executive pay and other expenses while consolidating services at a new campus, moves that could indirectly affect access and capacity across its Inland Empire locations.
