• Contracts For New Section 8 Housing In Murrieta OK'd By County; City Pushes For Local Control (patch.com) — County supervisors have approved key financing contracts for the 81-unit Jefferson Family Apartments, a Section 8 project planned off Jefferson Avenue near Murrieta Hot Springs Road, while Murrieta leaders push for more local control over housing decisions. City councilmembers say Murrieta has already exceeded its housing targets and are spearheading a statewide resolution to rebalance state mandates with community-level planning for growth, services, and infrastructure.
   

• Supervisors Approve $100K To Support Murrieta Valley Unified's Telescope Project (riversiderecord.org) — Murrieta Valley Unified students and families will soon gain access to two professional-grade telescopes, thanks to $100,000 in county funding for an observatory project serving district schools near French Valley. The refurbished scopes will track stars at night and the sun by day, with live feeds planned on the district website and community viewing opportunities for all ages.
