RivCo Man Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Minor In Murrieta Arrested: Sheriff (patch.com) — Murrieta residents are being urged to contact deputies after a Jurupa Valley man was arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a local minor he allegedly met online. Investigators say an undercover operation led to his arrest in Riverside, and they believe there may be additional victims connected to the earlier Murrieta incident.

Holiday Blanket Drive Begins, Donations Sought To Benefit Southwest RivCo, Murrieta-Area Seniors (patch.com) — Murrieta residents are being asked to donate new blankets at the Murrieta Postal Center to help seniors in Southwest Riverside County stay warm and connected on Christmas Day. Community groups are teaming up to deliver blankets and hot meals, and they're also seeking volunteers to join the holiday outreach and visit local seniors who may be isolated or facing financial or health challenges.
   

3. Registration Opens For Murrieta's Halloween Home Decorating Contest (patch.com) — Murrieta is inviting residents within city limits to register their homes for a Halloween decorating contest featuring categories from scariest to most family-friendly. Entry is free, a public map of participating homes will be shared after registration closes on Oct. 7, and locals can enjoy touring the city's most creative displays.
   

4. $28.7M Vehicle Facility Planned At Murrieta Border Patrol Station (patch.com subscription) — A new $28.7 million vehicle maintenance facility is planned at the Newton-Azrak Border Patrol Station on Madison Avenue in Murrieta, replacing an aging off-site garage. Border Patrol leaders will outline the project at a 9 a.m. news conference Friday, which will also be livestreamed. The facility is expected to speed vehicle turnaround and improve security for the Murrieta station's fleet serving the I-15 corridor.
   

5. Jury Selection Underway At Southwest Justice Center In Fatal DUI Collision Trial (patch.com subscription) — Jury selection has begun at the Southwest Justice Center in Murrieta for the trial of a Coachella man accused in a 2023 DUI crash that killed 21-year-old Jacob Snellings and injured his brother. The case was recently moved from Indio to Murrieta, where prosecutors allege the defendant drove intoxicated and on a suspended license before a multi-vehicle collision. Local jurors are now being screened for the proceedings.
