MURRIETA, CA — A plan to develop a 105,508-square-foot indoor public storage facility with 20 outdoor RV spaces in Murrieta received a green light this month from the city's planning commission.

During the Nov. 23 regularly scheduled Murrieta Planning Commission meeting, the commissioners voted 3-0 to approve a development plan and conditional use permit for the proposed U-Stor-It facility on 3.52 acres along Whitewood Road, northwest of Los Alamos Road. Commission Chair Michael LaPaglia and Commissioner John King were absent.

The project calls for one three-story building and three detached single-story buildings totalling 105,508 square feet. The maximum building height would be 38 feet, 5.25 inches.

The U-Stor-It hours of operation would be 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends. There would be no public access after hours.

"The project will serve as an added amenity to the community by providing a service where individuals or business owners are able to store their items either short-term or long-term," according to city documents.

The project applicant is Peter Nora, Chicago Capital Funds, LLC.

U-Stor-It facilities are located in California, Illinois and Indiana, according to the company's website.
