Two Sought In Murrieta Robbery, Chase: Police

Police say three people robbed a local auto parts store and then led authorities on a brief pursuit in town.

MURRIETA, CA — One person is in custody and two others are sought following a robbery and police chase in Murrieta, police tell Patch.

The incident started to unfold just before 10 p.m. Wednesday as someone called 911 to report a robbery in progress at the AutoZone store on California Oaks Road, at Monroe Avenue, police say. Three people allegedly took off after the robbery in a vehicle, which was soon spotted by a Murrieta police officer.

"A responding officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle matching the description provided by witnesses and the vehicle failed to yield," Lt. Phil Gomez told Patch.

That's when a brief pursuit followed, he said. The trio in the vehicle eventually stopped in a parking lot at the intersection of Clinton Keith and McElwain roads — and all three took out running, even dropping some cash at the scene, photos show.

One of the suspects was quickly caught, Gomez said. He was arrested, but police did not immediately publicly identify him, due to the ongoing investigation.
