Tattoo a Mug Workshop

NEW! Instructor: Steve Stringer

Join guest artist Steve Stringer at our NEW riverside ceramics studio for a 2-hour ceramics workshop where he’ll teach you how to "tattoo" your very own mug. Everyone will receive a blank handmade mug, crafted by Steve in his L.A. based studio. Then, you’ll learn Steve’s signature technique of "tattooing" ceramics. Cover your mug in a patchwork of your own original illustrations. Not sure what to draw? Borrow inspiration from Steve’s provided flash sheet. All mugs will be glazed and fired after the workshop and ready to pick up at Nimbus 2-3 weeks later. $95

Steve is a Los Angeles–based ceramicist and the founder of Steve’s Backhouse, his studio, shop, and creative space. He treats his pottery like a sketchbook, covering handmade ceramic forms with original illustrations, poetry, and passing thoughts that range from funny to sentimental. Since 2024, he's taught others how to do the same with his viral "tattoo a mug" workshop, leading to collaborations with Netflix, Soho House, Airbnb, and more.
