Comcast Names New Director of Government Affairs for North Bay

Petaluma native and Sonoma County resident Judy James will handle local government dealings in Napa, Sonoma and North Solano county areas.

Comcast has named Judy James as Director of Government Affairs for the North Bay Area of California.

James will be based in Rohnert Park, California and will report directly to Sue Vaccaro, Senior Director of Government Affairs for Comcast California.

James will be responsible for Comcast’s local government affairs and policy issues in the North Solano, Sonoma, Marin, Mendocino and Napa areas.

“We are excited to welcome Judy James to Comcast’s talented Government Affairs team in California,” said Vaccaro. “Judy has extensive experience working with elected officials and government staff members on a wide range of issues. As the former top administrator for Sonoma County’s largest membership organization and having developed advocacy and marketing programs for a variety of companies, she has a successful track record as a business leader.”

James previously worked at Republic Services Incorporated, an industry leader in U.S. non-hazardous solid waste and recycling, where she served as Municipal Relationship Manager responsible for developing relationships with elected officials and their staff members within Sonoma and San Mateo Counties.

She developed community outreach campaigns in this position and in her previous role as the Director of Community Relations for a regional dairy processer, Clover Stornetta Farms.

A lifelong Sonoma County resident, James was the Executive Director of the Sonoma County Farm Bureau where she won numerous national awards for developing new and innovative advocacy and educational programs for the benefit of her industry. She has built an extensive network through her work with local, regional and state officials and their constituencies and has received several commendations for her accomplishments.

James currently serves as a board member of the Santa Rosa Chamber of Commerce, the Petaluma Area Chamber of Commerce, the Sonoma County Alliance and the Redwood Credit Union Services Group.

A native of Petaluma, she graduated from California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo with a Bachelor of Science degree.
