Hwy 29 Paving Project To Start Between St. Helena, Calistoga

One-way traffic control will be in effect on various sections of northbound and southbound state Highway 29, according to Caltrans.

NAPA COUNTY, CA — Caltrans is set to begin a repair project next week on state Highway 29 between the cities of St. Helena and Calistoga.

The 7.6-mile SR-29 paving job starts at York Creek Bridge in St. Helena and continues to Lincoln Avenue in Calistoga.

The work is slated to start overnight Wednesday, July 6, and is expected to take about three months to complete, according to Caltrans.

The project includes adjusting some of the utility covers, grinding down the road, and repaving more than 6 miles of asphalt. A few traffic signs and several sections of old or damaged guardrails will also be replaced during this project, Caltrans said in a news release.

Overnight hours will vary by day and location as follows:

  • From Lincoln Avenue (north project limits in Calistoga) to Lodi Lane: 7 p.m.-7 a.m., Sunday-Thursday;
  • From Lodi Lane (south project limits in St. Helena) to Pratt Avenue: 8 a.m.-5 a.m. Monday-Thursday and 7 p.m.-5 a.m. on Sunday.

According to Caltrans, the road repair will offer an expected service life of 10 years to the traveling public.
