Investigation Continues Into Napa Woman's Death: Police

Police said no suspects are currently sought in the death of Crystal McCarthy, whose body was found Dec. 23 in the Napa River.

NAPA, CA — Detectives are not currently seeking any suspects in connection with the death of Napa woman, the Napa Police Department said Friday.

"The Napa Police Department continues to field inquiries about Crystal McCarthy and the circumstances surrounding her death," Napa police Capt. Fabio Rodriguez said in a news release.

McCarthy, 37, was reported missing the morning of Dec. 14. Nine days later, on Dec. 23, a Napa County sheriff's deputy was patrolling the Napa River by boat and found her body in the water near the Third Street Bridge.

McCarthy was last seen near Lincoln Avenue and Silverado Trail, upstream from where her body was found.

"The case is still open as detectives are waiting on the final autopsy report," Rodriguez said Friday. "As we have previously stated, no obvious signs of trauma were found during her autopsy in December 2021. While we are still waiting on toxicology results that can take months to process, detectives are not seeking any suspects in the investigation."

The police department understands the community’s interest and concern about this case, Rodriguez said.

"Napa PD will update our community with any relevant new developments," he said.
