Man Shot By Napa Police Officer Dies In Hospital
The 26-year-old man was shot Oct. 6 when officers responded to a dispute between the man and his father.
NAPA, CA — A Napa man who was shot by a police officer Oct. 6 during a family dispute has died from injuries suffered in the shooting, the Napa County Sheriff-Coroner's Office said.
Jeremy James Vellenoweth, 26, was hospitalized at Queen of the Valley Medical Center, where he died at 11:56 a.m. Tuesday, according to the coroner's office.
The coroner's report states that Vellenoweth was shot multiple times by a police officer, sheriff's Spokesperson Henry Wofford said.

An autopsy was not yet completed Wednesday morning, Wofford said.
Around 1:35 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, the Napa Police Department received a 911 call from that a man and the man's father were involved in an argument at a home in the 1600 block of Pear Tree Lane. The caller told dispatchers the man, now identified as Vellenoweth, had just pointed a gun at his own dad, police said.

Vellenoweth's father also called police and reported that his son was armed with a gun, police said.
As officers approached the home, they heard shots fired, Napa police Lt. Chase Haag said at the time.
"When they arrived, they saw the man armed with a weapon acting in an imminent threatening manner," Haag said. "One officer fired his service weapon, striking him."
Officers provided life-saving emergency treatment to Vellenoweth as they waited for emergency medical personnel to get there.
Vellenoweth was taken to Queen of the Valley Medical Center where he remained until his death
Tuesday.
The officer involved in the shooting was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation by the Napa County Sheriff's Office.
