California's gas prices were among the nation's highest, according to AAA, and Napa County's gas prices were among the highest in California. Here are the counties with the highest average gas prices in the Golden State as of Tuesday:

  • Mono County: $5.45
  • Humboldt County: $4.98
  • San Francisco County: $4.87
  • Marin County: $4.85
  • Del Norte County: $4.84
  • Sonoma County: $4.83
  • Napa County: $4.83

It's possible that the end of daylight saving time and onset of shorter days could contribute to lower prices, said AAA spokesperson Andrew Gross.

"Drivers may head straight home from work to avoid the darkness rather than tack on side trips for shopping or errands," he said in a statement.
