Napa Author's New Book Explains Benefits Of Strength, Conditioning For Kids
New book describes the benefits of a strength and conditioning program for kids and the importance of staying physically active.

John Cortese, founder and owner of CTS Strength & Conditioning, recently released a new book entitled ‘The Parents Guide to Strength and Conditioning For Sports.’ The book emphasizes the importance of strength and conditioning for athletic children
Napa, California (April 20, 2015) – For parents with “sporty” children, sports tend to become just a form of physical exercise, and of course, a healthy way of keeping them occupied. While there is nothing wrong with these scenarios, seasoned athlete and athletic development coach John Cortese believes that getting kids into sports is just the tip of the iceberg.
His expert recommendation: Get your kids into a strength and conditioning program.
Cortese details all the benefits of doing so in his recently published book aptly entitled The Parents Guide to Strength and Conditioning For Sports.

Targeted towards parents of young athletes aged eight to 18, the book hopes to help parents raise stronger, faster and better athletes through a program that supplements their sports practice, and helps promote confidence, self-esteem and overall good health.
“The book is essentially a guide for parents who are interested in getting their son or daughter into a strength and conditioning program for their sport(s),” he said. “It provides parents with an overview of what a proper strength and conditioning program and coaching facility should look like, and how to best help their children become the best athlete they can be, no matter what sport they play.”

The book also provides comprehensive information on the benefits of strength training for sports, common myths and misconceptions about strength and conditioning, injury prevention tips, fundamentals, athlete assessments, training schedules, nutrition and recovery, and troubleshooting.
In an article on the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) website, NSCA recognized that the increasingly intense level of competition in youth sports today requires proper building of the foundation and groundwork for safe and longer-term health and athletic development.
According to Cortese, children who are involved in these types of fitness training programs have better potential to stay fit and healthy long past their days of playing sports. “A customized strength and conditioning program for young athletes will pave the way for long-term success, in sports in school, and life in general. I feel very strongly about this book. Through this, I hope to get more parents thinking about the value of investing in their children’s proper physical development early on,” he furthered.
Cortese is also the founder, owner and head coach of top Napa-based sports performance and fitness training facility Cortese Training Systems (CTS) Strength & Conditioning. CTS, which specializes in speed and agility training, Olympic weightlifting, and adult group fat-loss training, recently moved to a bigger and better facility in Napa, located at 1755 Industrial Way #15, to accommodate a growing client base and new training equipment.
Cortese added, “We take pride in making sure the experience at CTS is the best around. We have a team that provides expert coaching, feedback, and deliver the best training and results possible. Our clients and athletes deserve the best and that’s what we bring to the table especially now that we have a bigger and better home.”
