Napa County Election Results: Measure K, Supervisor Races, More
UPDATED: Napa Valley Patch's roundup of Tuesday's results in races for treasurer-tax collector, Congress, county supervisors, more.

NAPA COUNTY, CA — More than 80,000 people are registered to vote here in Napa County, according to the latest voter registration numbers from California Secretary of State Alex Padilla’s office. Turnout was expected to be strong for Tuesday’s election as voters made their choice in the presidential primary, voted on the largest proposed bond issue in state history, and here in Napa County, decided on Measure K, a quarter-cent countywide sales-tax increase to support the Napa County Regional Park and Open Space District.
Statewide, there are 20.4 million registered voters, an increase of 3.1 million since the last presidential election in 2016. In fact, 80 percent of eligible Californians are registered to vote, the highest heading into a California Presidential Primary in the past 68 years.
“California entered 2020 with a record 20.4 million registered voters—and I only expect that figure to climb as we reach the Presidential Primary in March and General Election in November,” said Secretary of State Alex Padilla.

REAL-TIME RESULTS
Now that everyone's cast their votes, the question is: So who won?
Measure K, a quarter-cent sales and use tax to preserve and maintain Napa County parks and open space, was falling short of the two-thirds vote it needs for approval late Tuesday night. With 170 of 170 precincts reporting, 59 percent of Napa County voters were supporting the measure, with 41 percent opposed.

The Napa County Regional Park and Open Space District would use the revenue to preserve watersheds, rivers, lakes, open space and wildlife habitat and maintain and improve public access to public open space.
The tax would increase the existing sales tax in Napa, American Canyon, Calistoga, and Yountville to 8 percent, and in St. Helena to 8.25 percent.
The Napa County Taxpayers Association opposes the measure, saying it's an unnecessary new tax that would increase funding for the Park and Open Space District tenfold and expand park district bureaucracy.
Association director Jack Gray said the district has identified 60 years worth of projects that need funding and Measure K would be a 15-year tax.
