Rocky Fire: Containment Up; Acres Burned Up, Too

Good news from Wragg Fire with 98 percent containment as of Wednesday morning.

The fire raging in the Northern California counties of Lake, Colusa and Yolo, known as #RockyFire, has consumed 68,300 acres -- an increase from the 65,000 acres reported Tuesday, according to a Wednesday morning update from Cal Fire.

Containment, however, improved to 20 percent. Containment estimates hovered at 12 percent for past two days.

Rocky Fire has destroyed, to date, 39 homes and 52 outbuildings,the agency said. Those figures may rise.

“Hotter, drier conditions are expected to return during the day, increasing the potential for fire activity throughout the fire area,” Cal Fire said. “Structure loss assessment numbers may rise as damage assessment teams are able to access the previously burned areas.”

Wragg Fire, in the Napa and Solano counties area of Lake Berryessa, is at 98 percent containment this morning, with 8,051 acres consumed, Cal Fire said.

“The activity on the fire includes fire line suppression repair, mop up and tactical patrol as firefighters work to achieve full containment,” Cal Fire said.

The fire began the afternoon of July 22.
