Woman Groped After Exiting SRJC Restroom; Suspect Arrested

The Santa Rosa Junior College student screamed, but kept track of alleged batterer until officers arrived, police said.

SANTA ROSA, CA – A 20-year-old Santa Rosa man was arrested for suspected sexual battery after a female student reported to police that she was groped from behind as she left a restroom Monday evening on the Santa Rosa Junior College campus in Santa Rosa, according to authorities.

The SRJC Police Department was called at about 5:49 p.m. to the Shuhaw Hall area where the woman said that, moments before, she was exiting the building's restroom when a man approached her from behind and grabbed her buttocks, officials said. The student screamed, and the male ran off, but she followed him until officers arrived and made an arrest, police said.

The suspect, identified as David Cacique Morales was booked into the Sonoma County Jail for suspicion of sexual battery, and due to the fact he allegedly "disturbed the orderly flow and operation of campus," is not permitted to be on any SRJC property for seven days per the California penal code, police said, adding that the woman was provided counseling and victim resources.
