St. Helena High School Tennis Courts Available For Public Use

The courts are temporarily available during the construction at Crane Park.

ST. HELENA, CA — Under an agreement between the city of St. Helena and the St. Helena Unified School District, the tennis courts at St. Helena High School are available for recreational use by the general public.

Public use began June 11 and continues through July 31, providing residents free daily access to a tennis facility while the Crane Park tennis courts are unavailable because of construction.

Courts are opened by city staff as early as 8 a.m. daily and closed by 9 p.m. by the St. Helena Police Department. Courts remain locked during the overnight hours.

Use of the courts is on a first-come, first-serve basis; neither the city or district are taking reservations for court time.

The high school courts do not have lights to accommodate play after dark, and there are no restrooms available, so tennis court-users are encouraged to plan accordingly.

Parking is available but limited along Grayson Avenue and in the parking area leading into Crane Park off Grayson. Tennis court users are asked to be respectful of the facility by picking up their trash.

The city and school district also put the following rules in place to prevent the spread of coronavirus while using tennis courts:

  • Singles play only. Wearing face coverings is recommended if the two players are not from the same household.
  • Wash or disinfect your hands prior to entering and exiting courts.
  • Bring your own equipment, do not use equipment leftover from other players.
  • Clean and/or wipe down your equipment.
  • Keep 6 feet apart from others. No physical contact.
  • Avoid touching your face, and avoid sharing food, drinks, or towels.
  • Bring hand sanitizer and use before entering and after play.
  • Use your own equipment/foot to pick up balls and hit them to your opponent. Avoid using hands.
  • Stay on your side of the court. Avoid switching ends.
  • If a ball from another court or hole comes to you, send it back with a kick or with your equipment.
