UPDATE on Today's Tragic Hwy 29 Fatal Collision
A motorist died when he struck side of Vine bus, CHP said.

The driver of a 1998 Saturn died this morning when he struck the side of a Vine Transit bus on state Highway 29 near Oakville Grade north of Yountville, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The male driver was trying to pass a vehicle ahead of him on northbound Highway 29 around 5:45 a.m. when he saw the oncoming southbound bus and tried to avoid it by passing it on the shoulder of southbound Highway 29, CHP Sgt. Jeff Page said.
The right side of the Saturn struck the right side of the bus, trapping the Saturn driver inside, Page said.

There were no passengers on the bus and the bus driver was not injured, Page said.
The Saturn driver was not wearing a seat belt and Napa County firefighters extricated him from his vehicle, Page said.

The Napa County coroner’s office was notified of the crash at 6:12 a.m. and has not yet released the driver’s name. The crash closed all lanes of Highway 29 until 7:43 a.m.
