Victim Of Today's Hwy 29 Crash Identified
The crash occurred early Monday morning when the man's car struck a VINE bus.

The California Highway Patrol has identified the driver of a Saturn who died in a collision early this morning on state Highway 29 as Faustino Ortiz, 49, of Napa.
Ortiz’s 1998 Saturn struck a VINE Transit bus on state Highway 29 near Oakville Grade Road north of Yountville around 5:30 a.m., CHP officials said.
Ortiz was trying to pass a vehicle ahead of him on northbound Highway 29 where he saw the oncoming southbound bus and tried to avoid it by passing it on the shoulder of southbound Highway 29, CHP Sgt. Jeff Page said.

The right front side of the Saturn struck the right front side of the bus, trapping Ortiz inside, Page said.
There were no passengers on the bus and the bus driver was not injured, the CHP said. Ortiz was not wearing a seat belt and the Napa County Fire Department extricated him from his vehicle, Page said.
