Learn to Make Wine at Napa Valley College
Looking for a new career? Fall classes start Aug. 20 in the Viticulture and Winery Technology Program at Napa Valley College.
Registration is in progress for ’s outstanding Viticulture and Winery Technology Program.
Fall classes start Aug. 20. At the date of this release, open classes include:
- Vineyard Pruning
- Wines of the World
- Introduction to North Coast Wines
- A Cultural Appreciation of Wine
- Sensory Evaluation of Wines
- Fundamentals of Enology
- Integrated Pest Control for Grapes
- Advanced Winemaking
- Fall Winery Operations.
NVC is the first California Community College able to produce and sell wine. The program combines the art, science and business of wine
production from the vineyard to winery to marketing and sales.
Many types of students enroll in the program, from those who are trying to gain entry or move up in the cellar to those who are looking to make wine from their own vineyard.

Those who could benefit from the classes also include:
- servers and sommeliers looking to improve their knowledge to provide better service to their customers
- winery management looking to improve knowledge and improve communication with their staff
- grape growers looking to produce their own family wines
- home winemakers who need to troubleshoot problems or who want to refine their craft.
The program offers degrees and certificates as well as preparation for transfer.
