Hi! I wanted to share a story with you. I am one of the parents to a soccer player on Newark Soccer's recreational teams, U10 Pink Ninjas.
We have had an amazing season! Eight out of the 13 players are playing up a division, and we even have a 6 year old on our team too! We are truly an "underdog" team. Head Coach Danny Torres and my husband, Assistant Coach June Fa'i are first year coaches as well. They have really helped to develop these girls to really play hard and just have fun with the game.
Two weekends ago, they played in their first tournament, Jr. Terra Fall Classic Tournament and won first place! Which gave them, and the U10 Diva Kickers, an automatic entry into the Brentwood Tournament November 23rd -24th. It was such a great experience for the coaches, the players, and the families supporting them!

The girls have played 9 games and have only lost once; which was a close game against LYA's Rec U10 A-Team and lost 3-2. Our girls have never let the winning go to their heads. The coaches don't tell the girls that they have won until after they say good game to the opposing team and referees. Coaches Dan and June let the girls' know that it is not about winning but having fun, learning more about the game, and the importance of each position on the team.
We have some talented group of girls! They have one more game in their regular season against Newark Soccer's U10 Diva Kickers this Saturday, Nov. 16th at the Siliman Center Sports Field #5 at 12:30pm.

This picture shows how much bigger the other teams are that the Pink Ninjas play. The girl in the pink is my daughter, Tali, and she is one of the first year players. She is just one of the awesome players on the team and surprises the coaches from the opposing teams, as well as the spectators who come to watch.
The girls are looking forward to the Brentwood Tournament. It's an honor to have our girls represent Newark, even if they do not place in the tournament...they should be PROUD to be able to play against other great teams from other cities! I know their families are VERY PROUD of how far the girls have come since the beginning of the season.
Hope to see you guys on the field and support our PINK NINJAS!
