2 Arrested in String of Newark Car Fires
The three arson fires were reported within a short period of time.
Newark Police have arrested two people who allegedly set three vehicles on fire last week in Newark.
The suspects, identified as Jesus Lopez Perez, 27, and Sergio Sanchez Anguiano, 20, were arrested on May 6 on suspicion of three counts of arson, according to police.
Officers responded at 9:28 p.m. on May 6 to a vehicle that was on fire on Wells Avenue near Filbert Street.

A few minutes later, there was a second report of a vehicle fire on Magnolia Street.
A third vehicle fire was later reported on Mayhews Landing Road.

The fires were put out and there were no reported injuries, according to police.
While at the scene of the third fire, officers located and arrested the two suspects allegedly responsible for the fires.
