Introducing Street Recon!
A Public Surveillance Network by Community Residents for Community Residents coming soon to an Internet enabled Device near you.
Last month I posted an Entry in my Newark Patch Blog about a Plan I had which I believed would help curb Newark's Crime across the board. I have since decided to Implement this Plan and thus streetrecon.com was born! For the original Post, Click here.
Street Recon a simple Website which will serve as a Public Surveillance Network comprised of Cameras that are Live Streaming from Neighborhoods within Communities located anywhere. The general idea is to encourage Residents of a Community to help deter and prevent Crimes from within their neighborhoods by becoming Live Feed Operators and leveraging the Power of Social Media.

Meant to be yet another Tool used to combat Crime within our Communities, Street Recon will seek to both encourage and inspire Residents of a Community to take a stand against Crime by becoming more involved within their neighborhoods and lending an eye or in this case a Lens to the world.
Whether other Community Members or total strangers, allowing anyone to watch the Live Feeds will ensure that no matter what our streets are secured day and night.
Each Live Feed will get it's own Page along with an Embedded Chat, allowing viewers to engage each other in real time. Also on each page, will be detailed instructions tailored to that specific Camera Operators area including What to do and who to call if Witnessing something unfold.
In order to participate, Live Feed Operators should own the Property they will be broadcasting from or have a Landlords Written Permission to Operate the Camera on a rented property. Live Feed Operators should already have a broadband Internet Connection such as Cable or DSL and the necessary Camera Equipment along with a Laptop, Mac, PC, or other Internet Enabled Device.
Street Recon will NOT be Hosting your Live Feed, but instead providing your feed with more exposure. All Feeds will be hosted off site via the service of your choice. Access to the Street Recon Website will be free and unlimited.
Viewers will NOT have to register for an Account prior to participating, although if you plan to make use of the Chat Service, it's recommended that you secure the Username of your choice by registering for free thru the Chat Application itself.
The StreetRecon Website is currently being hosted on Godaddy's Instant page builder as part of the Domain Acquisition thru the Godaddy Service, but will be moved to a third party host prior to official launch which is slated for July 1st of this year.
Beginning June 21st, Street Recon.com will begin accepting Feed Partner requests.

Everybody Wins
All Newark based Feed Pages will be optimized with Advertisements generating Revenue. StreetRecon will take 10% of each Months Generated Revenue for Improving the Website, and Operational Costs while the remaining 90% Revenue will be put back into the Newark Community.
Due to my distrust of Newark Leadership, I will be using the Funds generated to either secure Supplies such as School Supplies for the Newark Unified School District or Monetary Donations for legitimate uses which benefit Newark Residents.
Newark Residents can help keep the streets of Newark Safe by Operating a Live Feed, Viewers wanting to give back to the community have to simply show up to a Webpage to generate Revenue without spending a dime and the Newark Community reaps the rewards. Win/Win for all involved!
