Newark Arrests: Burglary, Theft, DUI, Drugs

The suspects were mostly Newark residents but included transients, Fremont, San Jose, and Arizona residents.

NEWARK, CA —The Newark Police Department reports 14 arrests during the week of Jan. 20 through the 26th —

Monday, January 20, 2020
  • 6:41 AM: Officer McCuin made contact and arrested a 34-year old female on probation out of Newark in the 7700 block of Arrowhead Place for her outstanding felony warrant. The female subject was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

Tuesday, January 21, 2020

  • 10:10 AM: Officer Torres made contact and arrested a 19-year old male on probation out of Newark in the 36000 block of Newark Boulevard for two active warrants, violation of probation and false identification to a police officer. The subject was booked into Fremont Jail.

  • 7:00 AM: Officer Fredstrom contacted and arrested a 40-year old male out of Newark in the 37000 block of Birch Street for his misdemeanor warrant. The subject was given a new court date and released.
  • 8:16 AM: Officer Hernandez contacted and arrested a 41-year old female out of Newark in the 5600 block of Robertson Avenue for her misdemeanor no-cite DUI warrant. She was booked at Fremont Jail.
  • 5:05 PM: Officer Fredstrom contacted and arrested a 43-year old male out of Newark in the area of Thornton Avenue and I880 for a misdemeanor warrant. The subject was issued a new court date and released.
  • 8:11 PM: Officer Langenstein contacted a 48-year old male out of Newark in the 5400 block of Thornton Avenue. The subject too inebriated to care for himself or others. He was arrested for public intoxication and booked at Santa Rita Jail.

  • 7:36 AM: NPD Dispatch responded to a call of shoplifting in the 5400 block of Thornton Avenue. Officers made contact and arrested a 42-year old transient for two active warrants and possession of drug paraphernalia. Officers also made contact and arrested a 35-year old male transient on probation, for possession of drug paraphernalia and false identification to a police officer. Both were booked at Fremont Jail.

  • 10:09 AM: During a traffic stop in the area of Cedar Boulevard and Smith Avenue, Officer Swadener arrested a 35-year old male out of San Jose for possession of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and not have a driver’s license. The subject was booked at Fremont Jail.
  • 8:04 PM: Officer Riddles responded to the 200 block of Newpark Mall on a report of a 23-year old female out of Fremont in custody for theft. The subject was ultimately booked at Fremont Jail for shoplifting and possessing burglary tools.

  • 12:25 AM: Officer Damewood responded a report of a vehicle collision in the 5600 block of Thornton Avenue. Officer Damewood made contact and arrested a 36-year old male out of Fremont for DUI. He was booked at Fremont Jail.
  • 4:03 AM: Officers responded to the 5700 block of Rose Court on a report of an unknown male subject inside a residence. Officers made contact and arrested a 32-year old male out of Arizona for burglary and obstructing a police officer.

  • 12:40 PM: Officer Palacio contacted a 29-year old female transient in the rear parking lot of the 6300 block of Jarvis Avenue and arrested her for an outstanding no cite warrant. She was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
  • 7:19 PM: Officer Torres stopped a 38-year old male out of Fremont on the 5400 block of Central Avenue and ended up arrested him for possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of methamphetamine, and violation of parole. He was booked at Fremont Jail.
