Newark Police Officer Injured By Fleeing Suspect: Police
The officer was treated at a hospital, according to police.
NEWARK, CA — Police in Newark on Sunday arrested a man in connection with several crimes after he fled from police following a domestic violence incident and reportedly struck an officer with a vehicle during the ensuing pursuit.
Ramon St Ange, 20, of Newark, was arrested on suspicion on assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer, evading a police officer and causing serious injuries, three counts of assault with a deadly weapon, assault with a caustic chemical, threatening a police officer via force or violence, evading a police officer with wanton disregard for the safety of persons, attempting to take a firearm from a peace officer, vandalism, violation of a restraining order and domestic violence, according to the Newark Police Department.
On Wednesday, St Ange was charged with the crimes by the Alameda County District Attorney's Office, police said.

On Sunday at around 9:04 p.m., officers responded to the 5800 block of Jarvis Avenue to investigate a report of an assault with a deadly weapon.
Police said the victim called 911 and said her ex-boyfriend was ramming her vehicle with his vehicle in a parking lot.

Responding officers located the suspect, identified as St Ange as he was fleeing the scene in his vehicle and attempted to pull him, but he fled from police.
Police said St Ange had also attacked the victim and strangled her earlier in the day but had fled the scene prior to police arriving.
Officers pursued St Ange's vehicle for about 17 miles and said he appeared to intentionally strike three other uninvolved vehicles during the pursuit.
Police said there were no injuries reported due to the collisions.
Officers attempted to end the pursuit by using a spike strip to disable St Ange's vehicle, but St
Ange drove toward an officer and struck the officer with his vehicle, police said.
The officer was injured during the incident and was transported to the hospital.
The pursuit ended when an assisting agency used a pursuit intervention technique to disable St Ange's vehicle.
St Ange then tried to flee from his vehicle on foot, but was ultimately apprehended by a police K-9 unit.
Police said St Ange continued to fight with officers as he was taken into custody and tried to take an officer's firearm.
