Soccer Legend Brandi Chastain: Newark Field Of Dreams
As she helped dedicate new sports fields in Newark, Chastain told the children, "This facility is where dreams do come true." (VIDEO)

NEWARK, CA — USA Women's Soccer legend Brandi Chastain gave an inspiring speech to children in Newark Saturday at the grand opening of the Mel Nunes Sportsfield Park.
Chastain was on two winning World Cup teams, and won two Olympic gold medals. You'll remember that it was Chastain who scored the winning goal in the 1999 World Cup, ebulliently pulling off her jersey in celebration, creating one of the most iconic images in women's sports. See the video below.
On Saturday, after first thanking the adults who made the new sports fields possible, she addressed the children directly. "This facility is where dreams do come true," Chastain said. "And everybody who walks through the gate has the opportunity to become a better person, a better teammate, a better community servant, a community leader. And when you leave Newark to go on to do all of the amazing things that you will in your life, you'll remember this place as the place where it began."
