Tranining chickens to come on command

This is the easiest trick you can teach any chicken. The trick is to use one of the greatest motivators in chickendom - food. It's a great way to get them in the coop or out of an area where you don't wish them to be.

You need a container with many small pieces of a favorite treat. Let the chickens out to roam in their usual area. Stand in sight of the flock and call "CHICK, chick, chick, chick, chick" and scatter a small amount of the food, distributing it in a pattern so that even low ranking flock members get a taste.

Now walk to a different part of the yard, wait a few minutes, and repeat the procedure above. Repeat this step until all chickens come running.

Repeat once or twice daily for a couple of days.  They will retain this knowledge for at least a week, which is the longest time length I have gone between having to call them in.
