Vehicle Windshield, Seat Impaled By Metal On I-880
The CHP reports that the metal had been dropped on the roadway from an unsecured load and kicked-up by another vehicle.

EAST BAY — A driver on Interstate 880 in the East Bay had a close call Friday when a piece of metal flew through the windshield, impaling the passenger seat right at head or throat level for an adult. Thankfully, no one was sitting in the seat at the time.
Neither the driver nor two dogs in the back seat were injured.
Oakland CHP shared the photos along with the comment, "Luckily these puppies are part feline and used one of their nine lives."

(Editor's note: Several years ago, one of my high school classmates was killed on US 101 on the Peninsula when debris flew through the windshield and hit her. Please secure you loads.)
