A 17-year-old boy was killed today in a two- vehicle collision at a Newport Beach intersection.The crash occurred at 10:20 a.m. at Jamboree Road and Bristol Street, according to Jennifer Manzella, the press information officer for the Newport Beach police and fire departments.The teen was driving a Chevrolet Suburban eastbound on Bristol Street when it collided with a Toyota Corolla traveling northbound on Jamboree Road, Manzella said. The victim was identified by the Orange County Sheriff-Coroner's Office as Spencer Becker of Newport Coast.The woman driving the Corolla escaped injury, as did the driver of a Porsche that was struck by debris, police said.Becker was ejected from the Suburban. He was pronounced dead at Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo at 1:45 p.m., according to the coroner's office.The circumstances of the collision remain under investigation, and police asked anyone with information to contact Investigator Scott Grecco at (949) 644-3747, or email him at sgrecco@nbpd.org.City News Service
