22-Year-Old Killed in Fiery Newport Beach Crash Identified

A 22-year-old died and his passenger was seriously injured Monday when their car hit a light pole and flipped over.

A 22-year-old man who died after his car crashed into a concrete light pole and then flipped over was identified today by the Orange County coroner’s office.

The crash also left one other person hospitalized with serious injuries, police reported.

Trent Morris of Wildomar was killed in a single-car crash on southbound Jamboree Road about 12:20 p.m. Monday, according to Jennifer Manzella of the Newport Beach Police Department, and the Orange County coroner’s office.

The crash left all southbound lanes of Jamboree closed at Santa Barbara Drive four about four hours.

Morris was pronounced dead at the scene. The injuries suffered by his female passenger were serious, but not life-threatening, Manzella said.

The cause of the accident remained under investigation.
