Plant of the Week: Flamethrower Palm

The Flamethrower Palm boasts exotic colors. Stop by Sherman Library & Gardens to see it up close and personal.

The Flamethrower Palm is named after the bright red fronds that jut straight up into the air.

Scientifically known as Chambeyronia macrocarpa, this palm is native to New Caledonia where it is threatened in the wild. This palm is a true tropical but thrives in Southern California's warmer coastal climate.

As the new frond emerges over the next few weeks the deep crimson color is sure to impress!
