Marcas Contemporary Presents Works by Reece Hobbins & Julia Sonmi Heglund

Marcas Contemporary invites two illustrators from different hemispheres in similar design industries to display their illustrative works. The exhibition will focus on figurative forms and organic backgrounds that these artists produce. Australian based artist Reece Hobbins finds inspiration from late 19th century eclectic style of Art Nouveau. Appling natural forms and structure to shroud his vulnerable figures within a deconstructed organic cocoon of flowing lines. With similar expressions Los Angeles based illustrator and designer Julia Sonmi Heglund focuses on abstract geometric forms, with illustrative line weights, that bring the figurative form to life. The figures gaze off to the side of the viewer giving an open meaning to the on looker to summarize.

Hobbins and Heglund’s opening reception will be on Saturday, May 16th 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Located at Marcas Gallery in Santa Ana. The exhibition will be on display and open to the public until June 7th.
