Monday Surf Report

Surf Junkie Jeff talks surf conditions.

Waking up with the waves on Monday, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Newport Beach Patch surf report.  Well, she's way overdue for a jumpstart.  Yep we're seeing the continued minimal amount of energy out there.  Overall, most of this stretch of coast is hanging in super small mode.

The conditions are starting off fairly clean, although some spots are already seeing some texture on it.  We've got a very minor mix of remnant northwest swell and a hint of southwesterly energy in the water.

That recipe is making for some pretty weak sectiony lines, with a few fun ones on a longboard.  Most Newport Beach spots are running about ankle- to knee-high, with the focal points pulling a few thigh-high plus waves.

At 5:40 this morning the tide pushed way up to a 5.5 high which will have some spots a bit full or even shut-off early on.  The tide then drains out to a negative 0.6 low at 1:07 this afternoon.

If you're really in need of a salt water bath, throw on at least a 3/2 fullsuit and maybe the booties, with the water temperature averaging between 56 and 58 degrees.  Good luck out there!
