Nancy Yeary Women's Cancer Research Foundation Celebrates 10th Annual Fundraiser Gala
The Nancy Yeary Women's Cancer Research Foundation is a pioneering clinical research group dedicated to improving cure rates
The Nancy Yeary Women’s Cancer Research Foundation (NYWCRF) announced its 10th Gala at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Laguna Art Museum, 307 Cliff Drive, Laguna Beach, CA 92651.
More than one hundred patients, donors, physicians, staff and friends have gathered through the decade to celebrate the courageous patients as well as achievements of researchers and oncologists who are working to find better treatments and cures for women’s cancers. The 2013 and 2014 galas have collectively raised more than $260,000 for women’s cancer research.
“The Nancy Yeary Women’s Cancer Research Foundation was created with a single intention: to improve the treatment and cure rates of gynecological cancer,” said Dr. John P. Micha, who with his colleagues at Gynecological Oncology Associates founded the nonprofit in 1999. “Since that time we have become one of the nation’s most productive, efficient research groups. Only 2% of physicians do research nationwide but all of our physicians are passionate about research and publish an average of 15 papers annually.”

This year the gala will welcome new Chairman Mike Kent as well the new board of directors who joined the foundation, Andrea Esty, H. Marc Helm, Vivian Panou and Bridget Quijada. There will also be a celebration of the late Bob Yeary who served as chairman from 2013 until his death in January 2015. Yeary’s transformational gift in 2013 was marked by the renaming of the foundation in memory of his wife, Nancy.
“Bob’s support and friendship accelerated our ability to find new cures for ovarian and other women’s gynecological cancers,” Dr. Micha said. “We miss him greatly but we will uphold his commitment to women’s health.”
