OCC's Poinsettia Sale Scheduled For Dec. 4
Popular Annual Holiday Event is in its 38th Year
Orange Coast College is kicking off the holiday season with its annual Poinsettia Sale. The popular event — now in its 38th year — will take place on Friday, Dec. 4 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. in the College’s greenhouses. Pre-orders will be available for pickup on Thursday, Dec. 3 between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.
OCC’s horticulture department produces thousands of beautiful poinsettias each holiday season in their greenhouses, which are equipped with the latest technology in order to ensure ideal growing conditions for the fickle plant. This year, the department has produced nearly 12,000 plants to sell, including 4½- and 6½-inch pots, 14-inch bowls, hanging baskets and centerpieces. Prices range from $5 to $45.
Coast’s Poinsettia Sale is well-known for the quality of its plants and their affordability. The annual fundraiser draws a large local turnout, with many members in the community returning year after year and plants selling out quickly.

“This is a fabulous event to raise funds for student projects,” said horticulture instructor Lori Pullman. “Every year we love to see the wonderful people who come here to support us. The volunteers and community members are fantastic.”
The horticulture greenhouses are located just off Adams Avenue, adjacent to the College’s Technology Center. Students will be on hand to package the plants and answer any questions, and all proceeds from the sale will fund future student projects and scholarships.
